Charles Russell Western Art

DID YOU KNOW? Charles Russell (1864-1926) became known as the "Cowboy Artist." He painted approximately 4,000 works of art during his lifetime. He adopted as his trademark a buffalo skull which was added to each painting alongside his signature. While painting, he would view his work by turning his back to the canvas and looking at it in a hand mirror. The artwork shown is entitled "Jerked Down." Among all the Russell paintings, this is the same picture the Postal Service chose to put on the postage stamp honoring Charles Russell. This picture measures 16 3/4 x 16 3/4 and is framed in solid oak. It features Charles Russell art, a first day cover dated March 19, 1964, a postage stamp and a metal cowboy boot.
